Veterans LawyerS SERVING gEORGIA
Overview
Veterans Affairs Law is a dedicated Veterans Law firm serving Georgia veterans nationwide. As Military Lawyers who focus exclusively on Veterans Affairs Law, we help veterans pursue VA Compensation, fight VA Denied Benefits, and navigate the full range of VA Issues that can stand between a veteran and the support they've earned. Veterans Affairs Law is federally accredited to represent veterans in all 50 states, including Georgia, regardless of our physical office location. VA claims and appeals are governed by federal law, not state bar licensure, so our Veterans Legal Services are available to every veteran in Georgia, no matter which city or county you live in. This page also covers key state-level veteran benefits available in Georgia, including property tax exemptions, education benefits, employment assistance, healthcare resources, and state veteran programs, so you have one place to start regardless of what kind of help you need.State Veteran Benefits in Georgia
Georgia offers a range of state-level benefits for veterans that go beyond federal VA Compensation, including property tax relief, education assistance, employment preferences, healthcare access, and dedicated state programs administered through the Georgia Department of Veterans Service. These benefits are separate from, but often connected to, your federal VA Disabilities rating. If you run into a denial, delay, or dispute with any VA-connected benefit, our Veterans Legal Aid team can step in as your Voice for Veterans and help you understand your options.Property Tax Exemptions
Georgia provides a property tax exemption for veterans rated 100 percent service-connected disabled by the VA, applied to a portion of a home's assessed value, with the exact amount adjusted periodically. Surviving spouses of qualifying veterans may also remain eligible. Eligibility and exemption amounts are tied to your VA Disabilities rating and can change from year to year, so confirm current figures with your county tax assessor or the state veterans affairs office. If your rating was wrongly assigned or your VA Compensation claim was denied, that can directly affect what you qualify for here, which is where our Veterans Legal Services come in.Education Benefits
Georgia veterans and eligible dependents can use the federal Post-9/11 GI Bill along with state-level tuition assistance programs at Georgia's public colleges and technical schools. The Georgia National Guard also offers its own tuition support program for current service members.Employment Assistance
The Georgia Department of Labor and Georgia Department of Veterans Service both offer veteran-specific employment assistance, including job placement help, resume support, and veteran hiring preference for state government positions.Healthcare Resources
Georgia veterans have access to VA Medical Centers including the Atlanta VA Health Care System, Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, and Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, along with several community-based outpatient clinics across the state. Georgia also operates state veterans homes offering long-term and skilled nursing care.State Veteran Programs
The Georgia Department of Veterans Service operates field offices throughout the state to help veterans file claims, access state veterans cemeteries, obtain veteran license plates, and record discharge documents (DD-214) with local courts for safekeeping and verification. How Veterans Affairs Law Can Help
